Opportunities
For prospective students, researchers, and interdisciplinary collaborators.
Graduate students
Current doctoral advisee: Ashraf Abdul-Muumin (GitHub).
I welcome thoughtful inquiries from prospective students who want to work on neurosymbolic AI, causal reasoning, trustworthy AI agents, knowledge-guided learning, or related systems questions. Strong backgrounds in machine learning, algorithms, logic, representation learning, or software systems are particularly relevant.
Please email kroy2@ua.edu with a brief introduction, your CV or résumé, a research-interest paragraph, and one or two papers or projects that connect your experience to my research.
Undergraduate researchers
Undergraduates interested in research should briefly describe their technical preparation, the problems they are most excited about, and their realistic time commitment. Strong curiosity and careful experimental work matter more than a long list of libraries.
Visiting researchers and collaboration
We welcome discussions with researchers across academia, industry, healthcare, and manufacturing. For a useful first conversation, include a research question, the kind of expertise or data involved, and a concrete possible starting point.
